By the seat of my pants . . .
Up early this morning to talk to students at Holy Cross Sixth Form College in Bury.
The principal there, Mike O'Hare, has resigned because he's fallen out with the chairman of the board of governors. She says he breached confidence by telling other staff why he opposed the appointment of a new deputy principal. She gave him a written warning.
The students all back him.
We'd not managed to get hold of Mr O'Hare yesterday to arrange an interview, so I asked at reception and he invited us in straightaway. Seemed to me to be a genuine chap. And it made life very easy for us.
I did my pieces to camera outside and, as I bent down to retrieve my pad, split my suit trousers. Rubbish workmanship or fat arse? Hmmm.
So you'll see that most of my pieces to camera are done with my back against a wall.
At least I was wearing underpants today.
