And now the weather

It's raining, it's pouring. It's all anyone's said as they walked into work today. So we'll do a story about that tonight. David Henry's gone out, brolly in hand to find out what's happening. Remember last year? Long, hot summer days. Moan, harrumph, groan.
Also, there's a big scheme to replace lots of water pipes in the city centre. It's going to cause a lot of disruption. So Suzanne Beeley's gone out to find out what we can expect.
And Gorton Monastery is going to re-open. The picture in the Manchester Evening News makes it look lovely and shiny and new. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1009/1009849_gorton_monastery_resurrected.html
Must have been a good angle. It's still a bit of a building site, apparently.
But it's good news that it's being done up.
There'll be more on Gordon Brown and Tony Blair (remember him?) and their weekend visit to the city. Oh, and the protests. The police have praised the anti-war marchers for their peaceful protest. I should hope an anti-war protest was peaceful. Otherwise irony would ensue.
