Remarkable women

I interviewed an extremely courageous victim of child abuse for our story last night.
Kelly Barton was abused by her father, Philip Tilson, from the age of three.
Unusually, she and her sister, Emma, waived their anonymity to speak publically about their ordeal to try to give reassurance to other people in their situation that help is out there.
Their 42-year-old father, who denied the offences but was convicted by a jury, was jailed for 10 years yesterday.
What struck me most was the way Kelly - who could have only been six or seven at the time - did a deal with her father to make him promise not to abuse Emma till she was five.
Truly a remarkable girl - and a remarkable woman.
Their childhoods were robbed from them. I can only hope that they can begin toput that part of their lives behind them now.
