Classy problem

I WENT to Didsbury to talk to people there about anti-social behaviour in the area.
Many of them didn’t want to talk. The middle classes are far less likely to talk to the media than the working classes – especially about this sort of thing.
It was interesting that a number of people who did talk suggested that the youngsters causing the problems were not from Didsbury – they’d come in from Wythenshawe or Burnage.
We reported on a similar phenomenon in Hale on Channel M News a few weeks ago. Metrolink had helped people from Salford (heaven help us) into the area, local people suggested.
It doesn’t take a genius to break this code, does it? We’re talking about class again, although it’s strange that nobody likes to actually say that word.
