A word to the wise

HERE’S some good news for those of you who think education standards are slipping.
I’ve just spent some time with my six-year-old niece. She loves learning to spell and do arithmetic. A bit weird, perhaps.
Anyway, I thought I’d test her on words that sound the same, but are spelt differently and mean different things. I asked her about flower and flour and toe and tow.
She said: “Oh yes, they’re homophones.”
