Yes, it LOOKED dodgy.

IT must have looked dodgy.
I was walking along Dantzic Street near the city centre looking in the window of every car parked there.
We were doing a story about how to stop crime. So we were trying to find a car with something on show that might have tempted a thief to demonstrate what you should not do.
A mobile phone, laptop or a sav nav system would have hit the jackpot. But we didn’t see any. We ended up filming a coat on show on the back seat.
But as I was looking, a woman driving a van looked on, concerned. I waved hello. She stopped and grabbed her mobile phone to make a call, looking at us.
I suspect she was calling the police and giving them accurate descriptions.
“Tall, handsome man carrying microphone with ‘Channel M News’ written on it,” probably featured in the conversation. As did “another man, carrying television camera”.
A couple of police cars drove by soon afterwards.
If that was you, I’d like to say sorry and thank you.
It’s fantastic that you have such good community spirit and that you’re so vigilant.
I hope this doesn’t put you off next time you see someone apparently up to no good.
