Corrie's big so what?

SO, Coronation Street MIGHT move. Well, the set might. About two-and-a-half miles to Salford Quays.
It would be in another local authority’s patch. And Granada would pay business rates to Salford instead of Manchester.
Am I alone in thinking “so what”?
If the Street were to move to Leeds to share facilities with Emmerdale and Heartbeat, I might be a bit more upset (although those Yorkshire accents – step forward Vera Duckworth – would be more understandable).
I imagine that scenario has been mooted by ITV plc’s bosses, who are busy shrinking Granada and are conscious that they have a decent chunk of valuable city-centre land on which they do little.
A lot of people reckon Weatherfield is in Salford anyway.
Would moving it to Salford make a jot of difference to anyone who’s not a petty local politician or a journalist eager to whip up some sort of row? No.
